Yoga Ibiza

Yoga Ibiza 10 , originally uploaded by yogamama.co.uk . This was my yoga practice spot for the last 10 days. Ibiza is a beautiful island and has something for everyone. I would meet my teenagers and their friends coming in from the clubs as I got up to practice yoga in the morning.

Discrimination is a hellhound that gnaws at Negroes in every waking moment of their lives to remind them that the lie of their inferiority is accepted as truth in the society dominating them. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Top 10 yoga studios in London

This article was originally published in the Elephant Journal . Although yoga is catching on fast here in the UK, we really do not have as much choice as our friends across The Pond regarding where we practice yoga. When I did my yoga teacher training in San Francisco, I was able to try lots of different schools of yoga—all within a stone’s throw of each other. In London, however, you have to look a bit harder and be prepared to travel if you want to get on your yoga mat. London offers a “no-frills” approach to yoga, which I personally really love. Studios tend to be fairly basic and many are warehouse type set ups. We do not have any “celebrity teachers” referred to in hushed voices, who slip into class with an air of mystery. We do, however, have some fantastic teachers and are lucky enough to host some amazing visiting yoga teachers from around the world, who come and share their wisdom. This list contains some of my personal favourite studios and some that are highly recommended b

Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle. And so we must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man can't ride you unless your back is bent. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Sweaty Betty eco yoga mat review

I have been trying out the Sweaty Betty Eco yoga mat for a week or so. It feels like complete luxury compared to my other mats. It is quite thick and is made from recyclable non-toxic plastic. It it is embossed on both sides to prevent slipping. It is a perfect mat for a a home yoga practice and is fantastic for anyone who has kneeling issues. However, I personally found it a little bulky to carry to class with me and the strap slightly is fiddly. That said, it is the Rolls Royce of yoga mats in terms of comfort.

Video: Let The Sunshine In (Hair)

Yesterday I went with my husband and daughter to see “Hair”, the revival of the 60’s musical at the Gielgud Theatre in the West End of London. The video is the track “Let The Sunshine In”, which was my favourite song from the production. The first half of the show was excellent and very entertaining, but the second half was, for me, a bit slow. However, the end, with audience participation, was fantastic. If I hadn’t been sat upstairs (wearing very high shoes), I would definitely have got up on stage with the cast and had a dance. The show is well worth seeing before it ends in September.

Video: Sri Pattabhi Jois

When I saw this recently on Youtube, I felt like I was watching a very private moment in Pattabhi Jois' life. I think it shows the father/grandfather that he was; as well as being a wonderful yoga guru. Very touching!

An individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Filming prenatal yoga

I spent the Saturday filming a prenatal yoga shoot. I have to say give me back-to-back yoga classes any day; they are far easier. I found the experience both fun and exhausting. I take my hat off to the people involved in TV, film and media who do this every day as it really is not as easy as it may seem. It is a big learning curve for me, but definitely a great fun day, with a fab team. Below is a photo of Yoga Mama in between shots. More info to follow...
