Video: Sharath Rangaswamy Practising back bends

Back bends are one of my greatest challenges, so to observe Sharath Rangaswamy, a great teacher practising them is incredible. You are really able to listen to the flow of his breath throughout the asana practice too, reminding ourselves that this is about the breath as well as the pose.

Quote of the day ...

Old friends pass away, new friends appear. It is just like the days. An old day passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful: a meaningful friend - or a meaningful day. Dalai Lama

Bound to my binds?

I have had a pretty unsettled few weeks with my yoga practice. I have been so busy with other things and teaching yoga classes that I have not been able to practice yoga the way I would like to. Today I was able to get on my mat and do a full primary series. This was fantastic, and what a gift Guruji has given us all, by handing down this Ashtanga yoga. Yes, I was a bit of a cart horse today and, no, I couldn't get all the binds that often come with ease. I do however, completely accept, that this is how it is today. That every yoga practice is just that, "practice". That binds and poses will come and go, but the yoga - like a really good friend - is always there for me.
